The Apostles are those "sent" with a message, they are the first ones into new territory or a region with a message from God, they are God's messengers. The apostles message did not change from the message that John came ministering to the people, He came with the message repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matthew 3:1-2. The cheif apostle Jesus Christ came preaching this same message in Matthew 4:17 saying Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. That means the kingdom is within your reach. What is within your reach? Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink: but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. We hear many gospels being preached today but not the gospel. The gospel id the gospel of the kingdom of heaven. When he sent them away to teach , preach and work the miracles he had empowered them with he told them to preach the kingdom Matthew 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Verse 8 heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have recieved, freely give. So you can see the message that the apostles were sent to preach was the gospel of the kingdom of God. The apostle Paul was and teaching and preaching the gospel of the kingdom in Acts 19:8 And he went into the synagogue, and spake bodly for the space of three months, disputing and ersuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. And the apostle also separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one tyrannus.
